Raccontando i viaggi di centinaia di migliaia di sfollati\, la loro sopravvivenza durante la deportazione e le loro interazioni con il mondo sovietico\, rivelano dinamiche storiche i cui echi si sentono ancora oggi\, all’incrocio delle storie di esilio\, violenza politica e costruzione dello spazio imperiale russo.\n“Come una lepre spaventata”: queste sono le parole scritte da un abitante di un villaggio ucraino su un pezzo di carta intercettato dalle autorità sovietiche nel 1949. SUMMARY:Late Trials of Perpetrators in the Soviet Union: Between Propaganda\, Rule of Law\, And Memory
DESCRIPTION:Convegno internazionale. In inglese\, e russo. In presenza\nThe conference is part of an on-going reflection on the intertwining of the history of postwar justice (the post-1945 “global moment”)\, that of justice in authoritarian systems\, that of divided societies and that of the construction of varied memories after traumatic and deeply divisive events. The aim is to reflect in particular on the evolution of discourses on the Second World War after the beginning of the Khrushchev thaw\, through its use of justice.\nThe trials under consideration encompass the Soviet republics of Ukraine\, Moldova\, Belarus\, Estonia\, Lithuania\, Latvia and Russia (North Caucasus). Discussion will also turn on the question of the possibility today of in-depth study of post-Stalinist justice and war crimes accountability\, given the restricted (if not impossible) access to sources stored in the Russian Federation\, Belarus and for other reasons\, in Ukraine despite the remarkable openness of the recent archival policy.
