Convegno internazionale. In inglese, e russo. In presenza
The conference is part of an on-going reflection on the intertwining of the history of postwar justice (the post-1945 “global moment”), that of justice in authoritarian systems, that of divided societies and that of the construction of varied memories after traumatic and deeply divisive events. The aim is to reflect in particular on the evolution of discourses on the Second World War after the beginning of the Khrushchev thaw, through its use of justice.
The trials under consideration encompass the Soviet republics of Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia and Russia (North Caucasus). Discussion will also turn on the question of the possibility today of in-depth study of post-Stalinist justice and war crimes accountability, given the restricted (if not impossible) access to sources stored in the Russian Federation, Belarus and for other reasons, in Ukraine despite the remarkable openness of the recent archival policy.
