
Luca Bertolani Azeredo dal 2021 è un dottorando del XXXVII ciclo, in “Global History and Governance” presso la Scuola Superiore Meridionale (Napoli).
Il suo attuale progetto di ricerca, dal titolo «There are illegalities that are not crimes» Un’indagine sulla violenza politica e sui corpi paramilitari nell’Irlanda prima della Grande Guerra è supervisionato dal professor Teodoro Tagliaferri (UNINA Federico II). Questa ricerca prevede, partendo da una riflessione sulla cultura e il nazionalismo di fine ‘800, di analizzare lo sviluppo dei corpi paramilitari e dell’uso della violenza politica nell’Irlanda tra fine XIX secolo e il 1916.
Dall’aprile 2024 all’ottobre 2024 è stato Visiting Research Fellow presso il Centre of Contemporary Irish History, School of Histories and Humanities, Trinity College, Dublin, sotto la direzione della professoressa Lindsey Earner-Byrne.
Dal maggio 2023 all’ottobre 2023 è Visiting Student presso la University College, Cork, sotto la supervisione del professor John Borgonovo.
Dal settembre 2022 al febbraio 2023 è stato Visiting Student presso la Queen’s University Belfast, sotto la supervisione dei professori Richard English e Fearghal McGarry.
Bertolani Azeredo si è laureato in Scienze Storiche presso l’Università degli Studi di Padova. Durante questi anni si è trasferito a Dublino per un semestre con il programma Erasmus+ per poter compiere il lavoro di ricerca d’archivio necessario per la tesi magistrale. Il lavoro finale, The Irish Labour Party. From Its Origins to 1938, ha visto come relatori il professor Matteo Millan (Università degli Studi di Padova) e il professor Diarmaid Ferriter (University College Dublin).
Precedentemente ha studiato Storia all’Alma Mater Studiorum Università di Bologna, laureandosi nel 2017 con una tesi intitolata La Pandemia di Influenza Spagnola, la più grande epidemia della storia sotto la guida del professor Alberto de Bernardi.
I suoi interessi di ricerca sono la storia contemporanea, i conflitti sociali e nazionalisti, la storia dei movimenti politici, fascismo e comunismo, storia d’Irlanda nel XIX e XX secolo, terrorismo, storia globale, storia di genere, decolonialismo.
