The Institute for Balkan Studies (IMXA), in collaboration with the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the Aegean University, organizes an international conference, titled “Τhe Eastern Mediterranean during the Interwar Period. Diplomacy and Politics in a Fragile Region”.

The conference will take place on 27-28 September 2021 on Zoom and it will be conducted in English.

Points of discussion could potentially, but not exclusively, include:

Research and Primary Sources on the Eastern Mediterranean
Great Power interests in the Eastern Mediterranean
The geopolitical and cultural significance of the Dodecanese
Greek-Turkish relations, the Aegean Islands, and Cyprus
Strategy and Naval Warfare in the Eastern Mediterranean

The conference will provide a forum for advanced postgraduate students and young researchers working on the Eastern Mediterranean to present their current research, exchange ideas, and develop scholarly networks.
