The John XXIII Foundation for Religious Studies in Bologna is launching a international research program on the history of the Christian desire for unity in the last two centuries. The project will bring together leading researchers, historians and theologians whose research focuses on the search for Christian unity and its history. This conference is open to scholars who may offer on the basis of actual research on archives and printed sources suggestions and samples of the criteria that will guide the program: papers on sources, leaders, ideas, theologies, dialogues and the life of the faithful are welcome. A global history of the quest for unity needs a large scope of papers regarding the relations between the events concerning the area of politics and the development of the churches’ mentality. Also studies approaching the biographies of the spiritual inspirers of the ecumenical movement as well as authorities and the ecclesiastical institutions will be discussed.
